Hack your happiness hormones: Oxytocin

Cuddl a pet and boost oxytocin

Oxytocin – also known as the love hormone – is an important substance in your brain that is responsible for a feeling of intimacy and connection. And if something boosts your level of happiness, it’s those two things.

You can give this happiness hormone an extra boost by touching, hugging, holding hands and making love.

Sincere compliments and eye contact can also provide you with a boost of oxytocin.

Oxytocin is not only released when you feel connected to your fellow human being. Cuddling a pet makes a world of difference to your mood; you immediately enter a softer and loving state of being.

And then – for me at least – a great hack: Dark chocolate stimulates the production of oxytocin!  Cocoa is a natural heart opener that gives you a feeling of relaxation, happiness and connectedness.

Today’s tip
Boost your love hormone by one (or all) of the hacks above.
