Thank the cashier


Sure enough, it’s polite to say thank you. We learned that early on, and that’s the way it should be.
But if I’m being honest, my ‘thank you’s’ were sometimes more of an automatism than a heartfelt THANK YOU.
Nowadays, I look for something specific that I can thank someone for. For example yesterday, at the grocery store checkout, I said that I like that the lady always greets me so with so much enthusiasm. And I got a big smile in return.
