Thank people who have to work in the cold

There are professions that have to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as drilling rig staff, sea fishermen, pathologists, Arctic researchers or the residents of Oymakon (Siberia)…… (see clip below) – but I suspect you won’t run into them quite often.

But in your own neighbourhood, there are also people who have to work outside in winter. Recently I saw a jobstudent who had to spend a whole day outside – in the rain – disinfecting the department store trolleys, but he continued to smile at all the customers Just as the pizza boy who brought our pizza on his bike last night. And of course the construction workers, gardeners, letter carriers, market vendor, policemen, dockers, people working in unheated warehouses, farmers…..

Maybe you say that these people chose their job and knew the consequences. But still, it can sometimes be quite hard when it’s freezing cold and wet.

Thank those people for doing their job and keep smiling.
