Plant a tree in someone’s honor

Plant a tree in memory

When we had just moved into our new house, we planned a tiny walnut tree in the back of our garden. That was ‘our tree’. I could never have believed that now, 22 years later, it has grown into a beautiful, big and proud tree.

A tree growing slowly with its inexhaustible power, is a beautiful symbol as a reminder of something or someone.

Tip for today
Plant a tree in honour of a friend or relative or to remember an important event (birth, birthday, retirement, …).

If you have no garden, no problem! You can have a tree with a personal message. Bosplus.be will plant one for you.

How to plant a tree?

  • Never plant when it’s freezing. Digging a hole in frozen soil is almost impossible.
In general, there are two ideal periods in which it is best to plant trees. In spring, in the months March – April, or in autumn, in October – November.
  • Provide a spacious planting hole and improve the soil with compost.
  • Trees are often planted too deep. This is detrimental to rooting and oxygenation of the root system. The upper roots should be just under the ground.
  • Make sure the soil fits well around the root ball (remove the mesh). Keep in mind that the soil can collapse up to 10 to 15 cm after planting.
  • If necessary, place a tree pole. The tree post remains on the spot. In this way, the tree will hang up on its tie, as it were.
  • Water generously.
  • Trees should be well cared for during the winter. Rake away the leaves, provide organic fertilizer or a mulch layer of compost and prune damaged branches.
