Intentions to make you happy

My resolution for 2021 (and all following years) is to give as many people as possible a smile and make them feel good. And because it gives me so much pleasure, I can keep this intention for an eternity!

Because that is the trick: to set intentions that make you happy.

Based on the mottos of the Japanese Dr. Hinohara, a Japanese longevity expert, and my own research and experience, I created this overview of intentions to make you happy and healthy.

Intentions that will bring you happiness

  1. Eat to live, don’t live to eat
    People who live a long & healthy life are usually not overweight, no matter what gender or nationality. I enjoy eating and good food makes me very happy. But as with everything else: Not too much!
  2. Stay active
    You don’t necessarily have to do heavy training sessions. Choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator and walk 15 minutes every day is already very beneficial.
  3. Rediscover your youthful enthusiasm
    Recapture the childlike feelings of wide-eyed excitement, spontaneous appreciation, cutting loose, and being full of awe and wonder at this magnificent universe (Wayne-Dyer)
  4. Visualize your ideal life
    It is good to know what your ideal life would look like and to plan things you would like to get out of bed for every morning.
  5. Keep ‘working’
    Keeping your brain cracking and staying physically busy, keeps you vital. Actually, you never have to retire. There is no reason for that if you love your work. If not, you can find something totally different to do as long it will keep your mind and body active.
  6. Be kind to others
    If you are a fan of this blog, you know:  making someone else happy – in any way – is a big determining factor in your joy of life.
  7. Keep looking for new things and share your knowledge
    Be open to new things and look for solutions or inspiration in other disciplines than the ones you know. Share your knowledge so others can enjoy what you know.
  8. Make it quiet every now and then and follow your feelings
    Do not always blindly believe what others (even experts) say. Every person is unique and different and there are no standard solutions that work every time for everyone. Most of us underestimate our own intuition, but everything you need to know, is inside you!
  9. Be resistant to materialism
    Noticing all the beautiful things in your everyday live, things that have nothing to do with money, makes your life so much richer!
  10. Have fun
    Laughter can solve a lot of suffering.
