Be grateful in your relation

For my book and online program The Magic of Unforgettable Dates (available soon), I did research on couples who have been together for a long time.

What struck me, and also got me thinking, is that we so easily frustrate ourselves in numerous little mischiefs. We focus on everything our partner could be doing better in our eyes and, as a result, we miss the things we do have to be grateful for.

The relationship therapist who helped my ex-husband and me always said: couples don’t break up for the BIG things, but for trivialities like the toothpaste cap, the garbage or the intolerance of small imperfections.

Frank and I did eventually break up, but I remain grateful to this therapy, for it taught me a lot.

For example, to look every day for at least 3 things in your relationship that you are grateful for. Big things, but also the seemingly not so important things. And yes, sometimes you have to look far, but you will notice that after a week, you automatically start noticing those little (and big) things more and more. Being grateful for this brings smiles to your relationship!
