Invite your colleague for coffee or lunch – your treat!

Tip for today
Invite a co-worker or colleague to lunch or to have a coffee. It is a great way to create a bond and build trust.
It may feel awkward at first. It can even come off as creepy (doing research on this page title, I saw that half of the results for “asking colleagues out to coffee” was about dating…this is not about that ;-)). It certainly is scary to ask somebody you do not know very well, out for coffee or lunch.
But most of those concerns are just in your head. The majority of people appreciates being noticed and will say yes to the opportunity to connect and to have a free coffee or lunch!
Try not to talk about work, nor gossiping about other colleagues. Show genuine interest and listen. People love to talk about their pets, family, vacation, hobbies,….
PS: If you cannot do it face-to-face you can always drink a coffee or have a virtual lunch while video conferencing.
Most of us are participating in video conference calls in some capacity right now. One thing is universal—there exist a diversity of video conference personalities.
Which personality are you? Are you The One Who Just Woke Up? Or perhaps The Drinker or The Walker or The Busy One? Watch and smile…
