Write to a former teacher

Write to former teacher

A few weeks ago, the tip on 365 Smiles was to thank your children’s teacher.

But you too will probably have had a teacher who had a (positive) impact on you.

Maybe it was a long time ago. But it’s never too late to say thanks. Writing the ‘thank you’ letter is easy (below you’ll find tips). Tracing a retired teacher can be a challenge. Fortunately, social media exists and maybe your old school can help you.

Tip for today
Write a ‘thank-you’ letter to a former teacher.

  1. Express your gratitude and name the action you’re writing the thank you note for.
  2. Write a sentence or two about how you benefited from what you learned or what positive impact he or she had on you.

I’m still in touch with Miss Peeters, my 5th grade teacher.
She was extremely strict, especially on neatness; she inspected weekly our nails (no dirty rims nor biting were allowed!).
But I also remember her compelling travel stories and how she encouraged us to enjoy life.

This year she wrote us a Christmas card, she is now 92:
She writes: “I still travel 3 times a year by bus…. Every day I dust my furniture and every day I drink my glass of red wine”. Isn’t this great? I love her!

Thank you, Miss Peeters, you gave me some fantastic life lessons!
