Thank an artist or actor for their work

Thank an artist

Tip for today
Choose a big-name celebrity that you admire and write them a genuine, heartfelt letter of thanks.

Just to say, “Your work really moves me and I appreciate what you do.” No “request” or “ask” or “gimme” attached.

Chances are that they won’t answer you, maybe even not reading your kind message.

But that’s okay, you’ve already gotten the good feeling of doing someone a favour.

You can thank them:

For sharing their work with the world

Being an artist is often a vulnerable path. You make something so deeply personal and then present it to the world with an open heart. Not everyone is so fearless.

For reminding us of what’s possible.

It is invigorating to see you dedicating your life to what brings you joy. By pursuing these passions despite the risks and fears, you inspire us to do the same.

For what they create.

Art can speak things that can’t always be said with words. Through your craft, you help others to evoke and validate their emotions, providing comfort that we are not the only ones feeling a certain way.

For creating an outlet for us

We are grateful for the work and moments your work gave us joy and comforts us.

For sharing stories that otherwise might not have had a voice.

You give words, images to things we do not dare to address ourselves and you show us the different aspects of humankind.

My thanks go to my absolute favourite actor Matthew McConaughey. Not only because he is an amazing actor, but he is also a great human being. I recently heard a podcast in which he talked about his new book, ‘greenlights’. It pleasantly surprised me and is now waiting on my nightstand (the book, not Matthew ;-))

I am happy to share his acceptance speech for his oscar as the lead in Dallas Buyers Club. I love the way he describes in his funny way the three things he needs every day.
