Write a positive message on the sidewalk

I am very much in favor of spreading positive messages everywhere (you might have noticed already ;-)).
In front of our house there is a busy cycle path: every morning a lot of students and sportive people pass by on their way to work or school. So it’s the perfect location to write an uplifting message in chalk (at least when it’s not raining;-).
A small act so they can start their day with a smile..
Tip for today
Write a positive message on your doorstep. Even if it’s just an ordinary “Good morning”, “Have a nice day”, “Everything will be all right” or a Smiley!
It might be also a good idea to write or draw a message in front of the house of someone who has a birthday, something to celebrate, or who is going through a difficult time…
If local police regulations stipulate so, yes. Those regulations will also state exactly what you have to do. That can range from keeping the footpath clean, over weeding weeds to clearing snow. Some regulations go very far and even say specifically which weeds to weed. The Brussels regulations mention: Japanese knotweed, Caucasian hogweed, Himalayan balsam, late cherry tree and butterfly bush.
Cities and towns can impose a GAS fine on residents who do not maintain their footpath.
That is a difficult one. It is often agreed who maintains the footpath and when. Or the task is passed on to the building’s trustee. It depends from building to building.
That will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The duty to keep your footpath free of snow and sleet depends on an effort commitment. No obligation to achieve results. In other words: yes, you have to clear the sidewalk, but nowhere does it say how well that has to be done.
No problem. You can draw as much as you want. Provided the drawing is not permanent. So get that chalk, it will be washed away at the first shower.
Phew!
