Look at people (instead of at your phone)

Have you noticed this? Everywhere you go, people are completely focused on their phone instead on what happens around them.
The average mobile user checks his or her phone 150 times a day (that’s every six and a half minutes), and one recent survey found that young people spend more time each day on average on their phones than with their partners (119 vs. 97 minutes).
People don’t interact anymore with other people. They look at their phone and loose social connection.
And that is too bad, especially in these times. Because looking at other people and making eye-contact – even just for a moment and even with people you do not know – conveys a sentiment that the person matters. It is the strongest form of nonverbal communication. It makes a person feel connected and that triggers their happiness hormones.
And besides, if you spend all your time on your phone looking at other people’s “fantastic” lives, you miss out on all the wonderful things happening around you that can make your own life fantastic.
Tip for today
Put your phone away, look instead at the people around you and notice all the nice things.
This video gives exactly the same message as this tip of today.
And hey, it’s not that we want you to stop using your phone. This computer that fits in your back pocket is one of the best inventions ever! But the secret is in finding the right balance.
