Do something kind for the women in your life

Do something kind to women

Last Saturday I felt a little discriminated as a woman.

I was the only person waiting at our favourite stall of nuts, seeds and delicious tapas. It is run by a couple of immigrant men, who are always friendly and super enthusiastic (much more than their Belgian colleagues).

As they were busy restocking, I waited patiently for them to finish. But when a male customer arrived a little later, he was immediately helped.

Of course I let it pass, perhaps they had not seen me. But I was surprised by the nagging feeling of injustice,  this gave me. And it was just a minor,  insignificant incident.

So I can only imagine how deep this feeling must be for other women in serious incidents.

Today is International Women’s Day, established more than a century ago to support gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women.

Tip for today
Celebrate the women in your life: Send flowers, write a card, give a small gift or spoil them a little extra today. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman; we can all show our gratitude and love for the women around us.

Some facts about women

(found on the internet, so don’t shoot me if there are a few more or less)

  • Women do 66% of all work.

I suppose they have a very creative marketing team (or marketing partners) at Nike, because most of  their commercials a have a strong message.

I found some really good ones about women and girls and this is one of them!

(Personal note to you: I do not get any commission, nor do I have Nike-stocks – unfortunately).
