Don’t bother rinsing your plates

Don't rinse your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher

Tip for today
Don’t rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. This magical tip saves time, energy, money, and the planet!

It turns out we don’t need to rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. (The important thing is to scrape off the larger pieces of leftover food that could clog the pipes.)

Because of improvements made to dishwasher technology and detergents, you might actually get a worse result if you rinse the dishes. The dishwasher tablets contain enzymes that stick to dirt. When a plate is not dirty, the enzymes have nothing to stick to.

Hint: A modern dishwasher uses about the same water & electricity (or maybe even less) than hand dishwashing – at least if you don’t let the water flow continuously with the latter. Otherwise, a dishwasher is really more economical and environmentally friendly!

Filip Mars cannot escape doing the dishes…

This clip is probably a trip to memory lane for our Flemish readers…

Chris Van Den Durpel (Chris & Co) impersonates in a fantastic way the allergic Filip, who would rather watch TV than doing the dishes with his mother.

Great news: our calendars are ready!
