Hack into your happiness chemicals

Celebrate small wins

Note: this is a slightly longer post than you are used…. But making yourself happy and smiling is the foundation for making other people happy and smiling. So I am convinced it’s important to elaborate a little.

Scientists now have a pretty good idea of what happy looks like in your brain. The good news is, that they have  proven, without a doubt, that you can take control of your brain and hack into your happy neurochemicals.

Simply put, there are many little things you can try every day that give your brain a boost of feel-good chemicals.

4 neurotransmitters play a role: dopamine, serotonine, endorphine and oxytocine. From time to time you will get a tip revealing what you can do for the next 3. Today we will tackle Dopamine .

Dopamine = the reward chemical. Each time your brain feels that you achieved something positive, dopamine is released and makes you feel good.

Tip for today
Give your dopamine a boost and create a smile on your face by : Breaking big goals/tasks down into little, easy to reach pieces and celebrate each small win: rather than only allowing our brains to celebrate only when we’ve hit the finish line, we can create a series of little finish lines which releases dopamine.

And it’s crucial to actually celebrate – drink a glass of your favorite drink, allow yourself to relax or head to your favorite restaurant whenever you meet a small goal.
