Compliment your parents

As a rebellious adolescent, I repeatedly made the bold claim that I would raise my children totally differently. I thought my parents were doing things completely wrong and told them so at every opportunity.

I don’t remember exactly what I was so annoyed about. Probably it was about little things such as combing my outgrown pony to the side or taking my elbows off the table during dinner.

Now that I have children of my own, I realize all too well that parenting doesn’t always go smoothly. I admit gracefully that my parents actually did a pretty good job. Like most parents, they did the best they could with the resources and opportunities they had, each according to their own character. I may be doing things differently now but certainly not better.

As parenting is not easy, every parent likes to hear from their children that they are grateful for the way they are raised, no matter how difficult and bumpy the course has been or still is.

My mom of 88 beamed when I told her this a few months ago.

Tip for Today
Let your parents beam too and compliment them on your parenting.

I'll bet your parents said..
