Show genuine interest in your child’s school experiences

“Fine.” “Ok”. “Boring!”
These are probably the answers you’re getting when you ask “How was school today?”
It’s easy to stop the conversation right there. But no matter what the age of your child is, giving them positive attention by showing genuine interest in their days makes them happy.
Tip for today
When you have the chance (at dinner time, driving them around to their activities, eating a snack together), ask about things that are specific, but still open-ended. Try these questions below and see what honest, insightful and downright hilarious answers you get from your kids. Don’t worry if your children aren’t initially excited about answering your questions and don’t rush them to answer. Letting your child take her time shows that you’re genuinely interested and not just robotically asking.
And oh yeah ..do not ask all these questions at once 😉. This will seem more like a cross-examination and will probably ruin your future opportunities to have a nice chat!
