Put your doors and windows wide open

My mom always said, ‘Close the window. The heating is up’.
But actually I think she was wrong.
Because opening your windows and doors for 15 minutes a day in winter reduces your heating costs. Humid indoor air is much more difficult to heat than dry outdoor air.
Moreover, letting the fresh air in is also very healthy. A poorly ventilated room causes drowsiness, poor concentration, allergic reactions, creates mold and other symptoms. It’s maybe counter-intuitive but our indoor air is often more polluted than the outside air, even in the middle of a city.
So reasons enough to open all the doors and windows !
But there’s something else that can convince you…
It is now abundantly clear that Covid-19 is spreading by air. Opening windows and doors causes the particles to spread and not accumulate.
Compare it with cigarette smoke. If you smoke a cigarette in a living room and you don’t ventilate properly, you can still smell that cigarette later on. But if you open the windows opposite each other for a while, the smell will be gone in no time.
Tip for today
Open your windows and doors at least once a day and let in that crisp winter air!
Here on this blog I stay far away from all discussions about Covid 19: vaccines, measures, statistics, believers and non-believers, …
Nevertheless, I am happy to share this article with you from a Dutch doctor, epidemiologist and emeritus professor Menno Jan Bouma (article is in Dutch).
You can read it or listen to it. Great while you are commuting….
Did you know that there are different types of viruses? The opportunists, the survivors and the flyers?
And each of these requires a different approach. Bouma explains this so clearly and unequivocally. It’s worth the reading!
